Wilderdog is based out of Sacramento, California, and we love being able to help shelters and rescues all over the country, and specifically within our own community.
Our Purchase for a Pound recipient for the month of November is Front Street Shelter. They are an open municipal shelter serving the City of Sacramento. Front Street is also responsible for Animal Control and the investigation of animal cruelty in the city. Front Street takes in over 11,000 animals a year and relies on our community to save as many as possible.
Meet Arthur! He is our first featured pup of the month (and we've got a lot of pups to feature)!
Arthur is a four year old Pit Bull mix who arrived at Front Street on earlier this month. He is a shy, mellow guy that wants his own human that will allow him to warm up to you. Once he warms up he is a sweet boy that loves cuddles.

We donate one pound of kibble for every purchase made at wilderdog.com. Each month we choose a new shelter or rescue to receive that month's donation.
Our September Purchase for a Pound Recipient was Jaded Paws Rescue, located in Hubert, North Carolina, and they were deeply affected by Hurricane Florence. The volunteers were able to get the animals in their care to safety, and were able to help many more humans and animals in their community during the disaster. In addition to rescuing dogs, Jaded Paws also runs a pet food pantry for their community. They were able to feed over 500 animals and 150 families throughout the storm. We were glad to help restock their pantry for Jaded Paws, so they could continue to help their community.
Our October P4aP recipient was a bit different, in that they are an animal welfare organization assisting multiple rescues around the world, Women United for Animal Welfare (WUFAW). WUFAW is a global foundation, focused on improving the lives of animals domestically and abroad. This month WUFAW will be heading to Puerto Rico to deliver much needed medicine and supplies to local rescues and participating in a historical SPAY-A-THON. They also plan to rescue stray dogs with the hope of finding them loving homes in the contiguous US.
