Our dog was too small for the small. Beautiful coat though!
I live in the PNW and needed a replacement for an easy-on packable raincoat for my dog, as the velcro on the previous one got shredded (RIP $15 jacket). Pros: - velcro is strong and good quality - well sewn - color is accurate to what I saw in the online image (ymmv depending on your display) - Reflective accents work very well - very light and packable - I really like that they chose to make the velcro portions wide (along the head-to-tail axis of the dog's body), as it makes sure that most of the belly and chest are covered and protected from getting wet when they inevitably wade through wet grass or splash in a puddle - The jacket is aesthetic Cons: - the hood flies off easily in any wind or if your dog shakes. - the top of the hood folds down which causes water to run off onto the dog's face. a brim like you see in most waterproof hiking/mountaineering rain jackets would have helped a lot. - cinching the hood doesn't do much if anything to keep the hood on your dog. it's almost as if they expected the dog's head to stay ***** and stretched up - the coat itself is a little on the short-side for my dog (~14" length) and the collar goes right around the shoulders as opposed to the neck. I think if the collar were a little taller, it would have helped the hood maintain its shape so that it could stay on the dog's head - I understand why they sewed the underside velcro band the way they did (overlaps with the coat margin) so that it would keep the back end of the coat down in wind, but it doesn't work very well in windy conditions in my experience. They could have added some leg elastics as an option for the hind legs. - the jacket wets-out when in regular rain but does well in light rain for <1 hr. You might want to wash in some DWR if you plan to take this for a hike where you expect it to rain consistently. This is very much a "light duty" rain jacket. I've added string with a clip to put across the hood opening to make sure it stays down and
Great jacket, good quality, unfortunately my dog does not want to wear it. He freezes in place every time I put it on.
Our Rottweiler does not like the rain! This coat covers her body perfectly and will improve our walks when we have to go out in the rain. She's a female and the large fits just right.
